Grand Canyon South Rim, USA - Travel Blog
08:34No photo can do justice to this magnificent nature wonder. From sightseeing, phototaking, hiking, rafting and helicopter riding, you can easily spend a weekend or even an entire week in this national park. The major tourist area can be divided into South Rim and North Rim. Since we only had 2 days for our visit, we took our itinerary slow and visited only the South Rim.
Starting from Page...
Two nearby sizable towns are Page and Flagstaff. Starting from the town of Page, it took us around 2.5 hours to drive into the Visitor Centre of Grand Canyon South Rim. From there, you pay your entrance fee, park your car and start exploring with Grand Cayon Park free shuttle bus.
Watchtower
The Watch Tower was our first stop. It is one of the most recognisable sites of the South Rim. The tower is now re-fitted as a tourist centre with souvenirs, cultural demonstration and information about the canyon. Not far from the tower, there is also viewpoints where you can take some breathtaking shots.
The View
At the Visitor Centre, there are several shuttle bus routes which take you to different view points and trailheads of the South Rim. Easiest way to travel around South Rim is to hop on and off these shuttle buses. If you are feeling adventurous, you can always do some hiking down to the canyon and enjoy this nature wonder from a different angels.Hiking / South Kaibab Trail
South Kaibab Trail is one of the easiest and most accessible trails in the South Rim. From there, you can hike all the way down to the bottom of the canyon and cross the Colorado river to the other side of the Canyon. For us, we just wanted to get a hint of the canyon hiking experience, so we did a short 2 hours return trip to the Ooh Aah Point.Animal Encounter
Last but not the least, if you are lucky, there is a high chance that you will spot some of the canyon animals like squirrels, mule, elk, falcon, and many more!Scroll down to COMMENT and let us know what you think!
