A Day of Parisian Museums
06:18
I have been to Paris several times and will definitely return to this place for its culture, food and scenery. Every time I visit the city, I take a day to visit one to two museums and there are a few that I keep returning every time I am in town! I know there are a lot to see and going on in Paris. This is why we have created the following one day Parisian museum itinerary.
The Louvre

The Louvre is one of the most visited and famous museums in the world. Even if you are not a fan of art or sculptures, you will still be taken away by the magnificent architecture. The Louvre locates in central Paris and can be easily accessed by various public transport. The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace which was originally built for King Philip II in the 12th Century and the iconic La Pyramide Inversee was built in 1993 as part of the museum innovation project.
If you have a day in the museum, I would recommend getting a guide book so you can understand more about the history and meaning of each masterpiece. But if you are just dropping by for a few hours, I would recommend going to the following,
1. Medieval Louvre

From a fortress to a museum. In here, you can have taste of the most original architecture of the Louvre.
2. La Liberte guidant le peuple

Eugene Declacroix, Liverty Guiding the People, 1830, oil on canvas, 260 x 325 cm
Location: First floor of the Denon wing, room 77
La Liverte guidant le peuple is the most famous painting of the Trois Glorieuses (three days of glory) commentaries by Eugene Delacroix of the three days of the revolution in July 1830. In this painting, the half naked woman is personifying the victory of French Revolution and leading people forward over dead bodies. However, this painting receive criticism of describing Liberty as 'vulgar'.
3. Mona Lisa

Leonardo da Vinci, Mona Lisa, circa 1503-1506, oil on wood, 77 x 53 cm
Location: First floor of the Denon Wing, room 7
Without a doubt, Mona Lisa is the most famous painting in the world. Some say Mona Lisa is a self portrait of da Vinci himself, some say Mona Lisa was da Vinci's mistress. Whatever your take on this painting is, it is surely worth a look.

Auguste Rodin is one of the most famous sculptors. His works include, the Kiss, the Gate of Hell and the Thinker. Musee Rodin locates in the centre of Paris, yet, it is a very peaceful place for some reflection and thinking. In Musee Rodin, you will be surrounded by some of Rodin's masterpieces in a beautiful peaceful garden.

Musee d'Orsay

In my opinion, Musee d'Orsay has the best paintings in town. The museum locates at the south of River Seine and the building itself was a train station, Gare d'Orsay. The museum houses mainly French paintings, sculptures and photographies; also, it has the world's largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist pieces. The following are some of my personal favourites:
1. The Ballet Class, Edgar Degas

2. Spring, Jean-François Millet
