Breadstreet Kitchen & Bar, Hong Kong - A Gordon Ramsay's restaurant

08:43

Breadstreet Kitchen finally arrives in Hong Kong in September. The man behind this restaurant needs no introduction. Gordon Ramsey's TV shows, restaurants and kitchen habits are very popular in the UK and US. In the past few years, he has opened restaurants all around the world, Dubai, Tokyo, France, South Africa, Canada... and finally Hong Kong!

Breadstreet Kitchen in London is one of my favourite restaurants to visit in London. Not only it serves delicious food, the setting and decorations are very lively and friendly. Perfect for gatherings with family and friends.

First impression, the decorations in Hong Kong is very similar to the one in St Paul's London. It also has communal table, interactive bar, interactive dessert area, and comfy sofa seating. One thing that is very different from London, is that the one in Hong Kong requires booking months ahead. I booked my table for a December Saturday lunch in October.

The Food

Since this is the Christmas dinner with my boyfriend, we decided to go for a glass of bubbly (HKD 158). In order to go with our drink, we picked King Crab Cocktail with apple and pink peppercorn (HKD 138) as our appetizer, all ingredients were fresh, crunchy and delicious. A great start to our meal.

For mains, I went for a Traditional Sheperd's Pie (HKD 198). Sheperd's Pie is definitely one of the staples in British menu. Too be honest, I was very put off by my boarding school's pie, but this one was delicious. The potato mash on top was baked perfectly with slight crunch and the middle remains moist and soft; the minced lamb inside was juicy and nicely seasoned.

My boyfriend is a huge fan of seafood. So he went for a Slow cooked Seabass in shellfish dressing. (HKD208). So yes, I did steal a few bites and am able to give you a honest review on this dish. To be honest, I found this dish a little bit disappointing. I love the dressing which I thought went really well with the fish. However, the flavour was not as rich as the other dishes.

Overall, it was a lovely dinning experience. I like the setting of the restaurant. It's very friendly and cozy, perfect for family and friends gathering. Although we did not have a chance to try out their bar and dessert area, we found the idea of having these interactive areas very interesting. Definitely on our to-do list next time we are here!
