Hong Kong Suburb - ShaTin Cycling Day
05:06![]() |
As much as I love the hustle and bustle of the city, there are times when I just want a change of scenery and enjoy a relaxing day out which is closer to 'nature'.
Cycling is a great way to discover another side of Hong Kong. It is cheap, easy and accessible in both urban and rural area. The follow route passes amazing mountain and coastal scenery in the New Territories of Hong Kong. On the way, you will by pass Shing Mun River, Hong Kong Science Park and Tolo Harbour. If you are feeling fit, another 45 minutes ride would take you to Tai Mai Tuk which is close to Plover Cove Reservoir.
Cycling along the riverside/ harbour side is definitely relaxing. Air is relatively fresher (certainly fresher than in Central), biking lanes are well developed, there are also kiosks alone the entire lane if you need some refreshments.
Having said that, it could get busy at the weekend. So if you happen to be in Hong Kong for a little longer, I would certainly recommend heading this trail over weekdays.
