My Bangkok Adventure
05:06It has been good couple of years since I last visited Bangkok. I understand Bangkok may only be a gateway for international tourists into Thailand's island and jungles, or merely another Southeast Asian city. But this is certainly one of the favrouite weekend breaks for many from Hong Kong and here is why...
Sightseeing
This is the third time me travelling to Bangkok but there are always new places to see and explore. First time does not count as I was 10 travelling with my parents. I do not recall doing anything except going to the zoo and having scrambled egg for lunch and dinner. The Temples - Grand Palace, Wat Arun and Wat Pho
The Markets - Floating Market, Weekend Market, Khao San Road
The Adventure - Elephant riding, Speed Boat, Railway Market
The Luxe Life - Shopping mall, Afternoon Tea, Spa
Relax, Relax, Relax
For people who have been reading my blog knows I work in the banking industry. In a highly intense and competitive market like Hong Kong, we don't really sleep... and I mean for both work and leisure... In Bangkok, you will be spoiled by choices of spa and massage with the fraction of price you pay for the same service in other major cities. This round, we went to two massage places in three days. Mmmm... don't judge.
My favourite out of the ones I tried was the +Asia Herb Association and I highly recommend going. We went to the Nana Shop which is 5 minutes walk from Nana BTS station and diagonal to the ibis hotel. The shop has a modern interior design and the therapy rooms are very clean. The staff were very friendly and had excellent massage techniques. Most importantly, the price was very reasonable. I chose the Traditional Thai Massage with Herbal Ball (90 minus) for THB 1100 (approx USD 33).
The Food
I love eating, this is one of the reasons why I travel. From the cliche choices of Pad Thai, Tom Yum to trying local delicacies, Thai food always has a place in my heart. This time, we did our research and tried out some of the netizens recommendations. To name a few, Kalpapruek Restaurant, Nara Restaurant, Noddi Noodle Bar, Kaiton Pratunam Chicken Rice, Vertigo And Moon Bar and etc... Enclosed some pictures below (don't be jealous and go try for yourselves!)So there you have it. Bangkok is certainly one of the easiest and cheapest places to go for weekend trip from Hong Kong/ Singapore and until next time...
